Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for supporting daily coordination and implementation of the HSE management system
  • Manage the implementation of corporate and site specific safety programs including all applicable Federal, State, and Local Laws
  • Interface with divisional superintendents to pre-plan, identify critical risk and execute safe work practices 
  • Functions in key support role to the HSE manager as assistant
  • Monitors work activities and advise management regarding improvements in HSE program implementation and/or performance
  • Interface with Site Management including (sub) contractors and client representatives
  • Support management to achieve corporate / site HSE goals and objectives
  • Provide oversight of entry level HSE personnel
  • Support implementing HSE Absolutes in coordination with management
  • Support staffing needs and developing HSE staff for growth opportunities
  • Implement HSE policies and procedures
  • Support developing, implementing, and revising a site-specific HSE plan (e.g. HSAP); including facility sitting requirements 
  • Monitor compliance to HSE standards to include monitoring client HSE requirements and conducting scheduled field visits and inspections 
  • Audit the site HSE management system to determine compliance levels, participate in SER’s and other site-related audits
  • Support site specific HSE training requirements
  • Analyze statistical date, inspection reports and compliance survey results, track and trend results, and make recommendations for recognize achievements
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents for root cause identification and preventive action
  • Monitor the procurement needs and the training requirements for personal protective equipment
  • Support new hire orientation process to include site Short Service Worker Program
  • Support managing control of health and environmental hazards and exposures
  • Monitor the HSE recognition program
  • Oversee and provide guidance to OneWay safety committee
  • Pursue continuing educational opportunities and career development
  • Engage and promote OneWay culture – be a safetyChampion
  • 75-80% of work day will be spent in the field at a petrochemical facility
  • Participate in JSIMS and ensure the incident reporting, investigation and recordkeeping process meets requirements 
  • Share combined responsibilities of all safety staff to include overtime for weekend work coverage as needed
  • Complete weekly performance deliverables as outlined
  • Develop/deliver technical training material and presentations
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings
  • Provide progress reports weekly to Site Manager
  • Serve as primary contact to oversee injury case management

Qualifications


  • 5 – 7 years of experience or more functioning as a safety professional in Heavy Civil or Industrial construction – required
  • Advance degree in HSE or related field preferred
  • 40 hour HAZWOPER certification – preferred
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction Certification – preferred
  • Experience with rail operations (DOT & FRA) - preferred
  • Good written and verbal communication skills – Required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs – required
  • Professional safety designation of CHST, OHST, CSP or GSP (or equivalent) – preferred
