Job Description

  • Assist in administration the occupational health and safety programme of the yard
  • Responsible for implementing accident prevention activities to all levels of management
  • Conduct safety instruction course to new employees, contractors and owners
  • Make inspection of the yard to identify sub-standard practice/ acts, equipment and potential hazards; reports such findings and forward recommendations to the Yard Manager and respective Superintendent concerned
  • Emphasize and enforce the use of protective equipment, and determine the type of equipment to be purchased and used
  • Assist in the annual safety audit
  • Assist supervisors to carry out accident and injury investigations
  • Prepare and maintain safety records, accident statistics and reports required under Factories Act
  • Propagate safety through leaflets, memos, reports, posters, notices etc
  • Submit monthly report on various safety activities and highlight actions which are required to be taken by the company
  • Submit accident i-report to Ministry of Manpower and insurance company
  • Keep abreast with new development in the field of safety profession, accident prevention, personal protective, first aid equipment and procedures
  • Certify and issue Hot-Work permit and Operation permit
  • Assist in the organization of Annual Safety Promotion Campaign
  • Act as secretary during Vessel Safety Coordination Committee meetings
  • Lead a team of Health, Safety & Environment promoters to ensure compliance to the Company’s Health & Safety regulations on project
  • Review occupational health and safety practices to improve occupational health and safety standards
  • Liaise with internal departments (such as Medical, Training) as well as insurance company and statutory bodies (such as MOM and SCDF) on occupational health and safety matters
  • Coordinate with Fire Department to organize emergency drills and rescue
  • Supervise and manage the career development and training of Senior HSE Coordinator, HSE Coordinator, Senior HSE Technician, HSE Technician, Senior Emergency Response Driver and Emergency Response Drive
